World Heart Day |

Every Year the last Sunday of September is celebrated as World heart day. This year
it falls on 27th September, 2009. It was initiated by the World Heart Federation
in coordination with World Health Organisation (WHO) in more than 100 countries.
According to the WHO report, heart disease and stroke are the world’s largest killers,
claiming 17.5 million lives a year. World Heart Day is an attempt to generate public
awareness about the increasing incidences of heart diseases and to foster a heart
healthy life style for reducing the risk of heart diseases. |

Every year the World Heart Federation announces a theme for the celebrations. The
theme of this year is ‘Work with Heart’. It aims to encourage people to make small
changes that together can make a big difference in a favor of greater health and
productivity. |
