World Health Day |

World Health Day is celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the
World Health Organization (WHO).
WHO held the First world Health Assembly in 1948. The Assembly has decided to celebrate
7 April as the World Health Day, with effect from 1950. This day is celebrated to
highlight a specific health issue of a public health importance. On this day, different
events are marked all over the globe to create awareness about a particular health
issue.
This year the theme for the World Health Day is ‘Save lives. Make hospitals safe
in emergencies’.
